Monsoon Prevention Tips (Your Action Plan)

1. Hydrate Safely & Prioritize Food Hygiene

  • Drink only boiled or certified filtered water.

  • Avoid street vendors or open water containers.

  • Eat only freshly-cooked, home-prepared meals; steer clear of undercooked meat, raw veggies, or unpasteurized dairy

2. Maintain Personal & Environmental Hygiene

  • Wash hands regularly (soap or sanitiser), especially before meals and after restroom use.

  • Ventilate rooms to reduce dampness.

  • Change out of drenched clothes/footwear promptly, shower if exposed to rain, and keep skin dry 

3. Strengthen Immunity

  • Consume Vitamin C–rich fruits (amla, guava, oranges).

  • Add ginger, garlic, turmeric, and tulsi for antiviral support.

  • Stay hydrated with warm teas or herbal decoctions. A lukewarm ginger‑amla‑turmeric‑pepper shot can be refreshing—after consulting your doctor

4. Mosquito Bite Prevention

  • Use repellents and mosquito nets; wear long‑sleeved clothes.

  • Eliminate stagnant water in pots, tyres, flower vases, and coolers.

  • Participate in local fogging and larvicide initiatives, like the Delhi campaign

5. Guard Against Skin & Foot Fungal Infections

  • Dry feet thoroughly and use antifungal powder or medicated soaps in skin folds.

  • Avoid walking barefoot in puddles or sewage water.

  • Wash towels and bed sheets frequently

6. Respiratory Viral Safety

  • Cover mouth while coughing or sneezing, avoid touching face.

  • Wear masks in crowded wet settings and keep indoor air circulating.

  • Avoid enclosed, damp public spaces like buses or theatres.

  • If symptoms like fever, sore throat, cough persist beyond 2–3 days, consult a doctor

7. Vaccinations & When to Visit Your Doctor

  • Stay updated on vaccinations for hepatitis A/E, typhoid, influenza, and COVID‑19.

  • Seek medical help if you experience:

    • Fever persisting >2 days

    • Yellow eyes/skin (jaundice)

    • Severe diarrhea or vomiting

    • Difficulty breathing or chest pain

    • Skin rash, eye inflammation, or unexplained seizures—especially in children or immune‑compromised individuals
